about

Originally released as a single by Australian band Country Radio in 1972 and written by the late Greg Quill and Kerryn Tolhurst (founder of legendary Aussie band The Dingoes), the Bone Folders have done this song to introduce a new generation to a classic song. We only hope that we've done it justice.

lyrics

Rising moon and silver road behind me
And I do believe the sky’s about to fall
Going where I know they’ll never find me
All my sorrows gonna try to lose them all

Gotta find a gypsy queen, show me things I’ve never seen
Don’t cry Mama for the things I’ve done
Mama don’t you cry for me
I’m singing for the dark and lonely highways
I’m singing for the rivers and the sea
I’m singing for the country roads and byways
But I wonder as I go, is there anyone alone
To sing for me?

Goin' home ain’t quite as fine as leaving
Together ain’t as fine as on your own
Wishin’ can never be believing
So please believe in me when I’m gone

Repeat chorus
